If you want to know what is really going on, you will have to read my previous two posts. The following is from a board hospital patient who finished her book, the SF Chronicle and 4 people magazines and has nothing better to do then get all these thoughts off her mind.

What one who works in health care needs to know

• Diabetes Insipidus is a WATER diabetes. It has NOTHING to do with SUGAR diabetes. Please do not ask a patient if she checks her blood sugar every day and yes, that includes you MD. It makes me extremely nervous!
• Please recheck your patients blood pressure when before you discharge her if her blood pressure is 78/37 and she cannot get out of bed.
• If you leave a person on a bedpan, please come back soon to get it. Sitting in pee is no fun and when you get tired of sitting in it and you can't sit up you end up spilling pee all over your bed.
• Don't insist on giving a patient something to calm them down if you plan to wake them up every few minutes to ask them questions and relay important information to them.
• When you are administering Compazine to a patient who was very resistant about taking it, don't say" this stuff does the opposite for me, it make me wired, some people it works for and others, it does the opposite".
• Then after you administer it and your patient starts to choke, Don't look at her like she is dying and say is your normal heart beat 14o?

The previous is all from my local hospital. The care here at UCSF is dreamy! The nurses and aids, dietary staff, housekeepers, physicians, MRI techs, transporters, chaplain, and visitors services are outstanding. This laptop I am using is a loaner to patients like me I guess who are not really feeling sick. Last time I was here I laughed at the thought of checking out a computer.
